Sydney's Business of Sport Summit is bringing executives, broadcasters, governing bodies and commercial partners to the Swissotel today for a full-day program on the business behind sport. The 15th annual summit is framed around the theme, Forging the Future of Sports Excellence.

The program moves from registration at 9am through a series of sessions on commercial strategy, fan engagement and the operating pressures facing sport organisations. International sports broadcaster David Basheer is scheduled to open proceedings, while speakers include Fenway Sports Management managing director Adam Grossman, Rugby Australia chief executive Phil Waugh and Cricket Australia chief commercial officer Ed Sanders.

The local relevance is not limited to the people in the room. Sydney is home to national sporting bodies, clubs, venues, broadcasters and suppliers whose decisions shape what fans pay for, how venues are used and how teams reach audiences. A program centred on strategy and partnerships is a reminder that sport's public face depends on a large operational economy behind it.

The summit is a closed media event and registrations are assessed for role relevance. Its agenda nevertheless offers a useful view of the conversations shaping the sector: how organisations preserve identity while growing, how fan relationships change with digital products, and how commercial decisions affect the experience delivered to supporters.
