Sydney FC has launched a new third kit dedicated to The Cove, the club's active-supporter group in Bay 23.
The club says it is the first A-League kit dedicated to a club's active support. The black jersey uses charcoal-grey supporter silhouettes across the front and sleeves, with a Bay 23 mark below the collar and a deconstructed blue Sydney FC crest. References to the Harbour Bridge and other Sydney landmarks appear among the supporter imagery.
The release was developed with kit partner Under Armour. Sydney FC says the men's and women's squads will wear the jersey in away matches this weekend, against Melbourne City and Brisbane Roar respectively.
Men's captain Rhyan Grant said the kit acknowledged supporters who consistently create the match-day atmosphere. Women's captain Natalie Tobin said The Cove and Bay 23 were integral to the club's identity. Executive vice chairman Sebastian Gray described the release as recognition of the supporters' voice, loyalty and passion.
For fans, the launch is more than a merchandising change. Active support shapes the match-day experience through singing, banners and travel, and the kit puts that contribution at the centre of a visual identity normally reserved for players and sponsors.
The club has made the kit available through its official merchandise shop. Its first use on the pitch will give supporters the immediate test: whether it reads as a genuine tribute in the stands as well as a new addition to the retail range.
