Sydney distiller Archie Rose has launched a redesigned identity, bottle and packaging across its core whisky range as it expands into overseas markets.

The refreshed line brings together Single Malt Whisky, Straight Rye Malt Whisky — previously called Rye Malt Whisky — and Australian Original Whisky. The company has worked with Glasgow-based agency Thirst on the design framework.

The update follows actor Chris Hemsworth joining Archie Rose founder Will Edwards as co-owner in August. The ownership change gives the business a high-profile public face, but the more practical local story is about a Sydney-made manufacturer trying to build a more recognisable range for a broader distribution footprint.

The whiskies are fermented and distilled in separate malt streams, then matured in Australian fortified-wine, European-oak and American-oak casks. Archie Rose says production continues at its Sydney facility using locally sourced grain.

The new flask-shaped bottle uses textured glass. The company says it has also reduced the bottle's glass weight and redesigned the outer box, changes intended to lower packaging weight and improve freight efficiency. Archie Rose is a certified B Corp.

A promotional campaign shot across eight Australian locations accompanies the release. The company says the updated range is rolling out through major retailers, independent bottle shops and venues in Australia, with international distribution in the United States, New Zealand, Singapore and selected Asian markets beginning this month.

For Sydney's food-and-drink economy, the release is a useful marker of the hard work behind a consumer brand's next stage. New packaging and a recognisable partner can create attention, but the enduring test is whether a local producer can keep quality, supply and a clear identity together as it asks more markets to recognise the bottle.
